Overview

In this activity, we’re stepping into the Music Gallery to learn all about how music is written! The first video introduces the stave, the treble clef, and our very first note – C. Children will see where the note C sits on the stave and be encouraged to sing it out loud.

This is a great way to begin recognising how music is written and how each note has its own special place on the lines and spaces.

Music Tip: The treble clef is like a musical signpost—it tells us where the notes go!

Teacher Tip: Encourage the children to use a singing voice when trying the note, and repeat it a few times together to help them feel confident.

Learning outcomes

KS2 (Years 3–6)

  • play and perform in solo and ensemble contexts, using their voices and playing musical instruments with increasing accuracy, fluency, control and expression
  • use and understand staff and other musical notations
